The collective and concerted presentation of the values of contemporary Hungarian music: ever since its foundation in 1996, this has been the chief mission of the Budapest Music Center as a concert organizer, record label and information centre. Home to a Concert Hall, a Library with a music collection of 100,000 items, and the Opus Jazz Club, which showcases the latest in European jazz, BMC’s building in Mátyás Street hosts 400 concerts a year.

Originally called the People’s Opera, Erkel Theatre was opened on 7 December 1911. Reconstructed on several occasions, the building functioned as the Hungarian State Opera’s second venue between 1951 and 2007, and from 2013 to 2022. With the Opera House reopened in March 2022, and Erkel Theatre awaiting a comprehensive and much-needed modernization, the latter now provides a venue mostly for hosted productions.

The Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art occupies an important position in the network of national, Central European and international contemporary art museums. The Hungarian National Gallery is the largest public collection to present the history of fine art in Hungary. Its collections range from the founding of the state to the present day, from the earliest Hungarian relics to contemporary art. The gallery currently has a collection of 110,000 works of art, the highlights of which can be seen in the permanent exhibitions, while the museum’s temporary displays offer deeper insights into the work of individual artists.

For safety reasons, the use of the cloakroom is obligatory and free of charge. Valuables can be deposited during the visit in our lockable safes or in a “take and return” linen bag available free of charge in the cloakroom.

Entering the area of the Buda Castle by car is only possible with an entry permit. The gallery can be accessed directly on foot or in a wheelchair, or can be reached by public transportation based on the information provided on the venue’s website.

The House of Music Hungary has a restaurant, a café and a snack bar. The latter is open until whatever performance is on.

Cloakroom

The cloakroom is free of charge, and visitors to the exhibitions are required to use it. There are also free lockers for bags and small coats.

Parking

If you come by car, you can use the Museum Underground Car Park, an 800-lot facility. It is accessible from Dózsa György út, between Damjanich and Dembinszky utca. From the underground car park, the House of Music Hungary can be reached in a few minutes’ walk through City Park, with signposts to guide you along the way.
Buy your tickets online for 2 hours of free parking on the performance day. Claim your discount by having your parking slip validated at the information desk of the House of Music Hungary. If your concert is in the evening, validate your parking slip before the start of the performance, until 8 pm. The parking discount provided by the House of Music Hungary is valid for one entry and exit on the day of the performance.
Bicycles can be locked to the bike stands outside the House of Music Hungary.

MOMkult is a key cultural venue of the 12th District, a prominent presence in the new city centre that is emerging along the axis of Csörsz Street. Infused with Bauhaus characteristics, the domed historic building opened in 1951. With its beautiful, unique atmosphere and exclusive interiors, is a cultural institution in green surroundings, including community spaces and offering a wide variety of entertainment, from music and theatre to literary and educational events, as well as exhibitions.

Café MOM is open every day 10am – 6pm, as well as while the events last.

You can use Müpa Budapest’s underground and surface parking facilities free of charge with a non-free ticket for one of the day’s performances. The parking discount provided by such a ticket is valid for one entry and exit on the day of the performance.

Museum of Fine Arts

Thanks to the diversity of its collections and the large number of masterpieces, Budapest’s Museum of Fine Arts is one of the most prestigious public collections in Europe. Its permanent exhibitions showcase relics of universal and Hungarian art from antiquity to the end of the 18th century, including works by such artists as Raffaello, Dürer, Cranach, Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Velázquez and Goya. With the largest reconstruction in a hundred years now completed, visitors can once again visit all the historicizing spaces of the museum, from the Romanesque to the Baroque Hall.

The Museum of Fine Arts has a café and bistro, welcoming visitors during the museum’s opening hours.

Cloakroom

The use of the cloakroom is mandatory for security reasons and is free of charge. You can borrow a canvas bag in the cloakroom to take your personal belongings into the exhibition space, free of charge.

Parking

Visitors arriving by car can use the Museum Underground Parking, an 800-space facility on Dózsa György Road. It is accessible from Dózsa György Road, between Damjanich and Dembinszky Streets. From the underground car park, the museum can be reached in a few minutes’ walk through City Park. Purchase your museum ticket on the Liget+ website and get two hours of free parking. To get the concession, validate your parking slip at the information desk of the museum.

Accessibility

The main entrance can also be accessed by means of an external lift on the right of the main staircase, which you can operate yourself during opening hours. There are two disabled parking spaces by the right side of the building, behind the taxi rank, from where the external lift is accessible without the need to cross the road.

The Art Nouveau main building of the Liszt Academy, inaugurated in 1907, is a legendary concert venue. The Grand Hall with golden laurel ceiling and many symbolic ornaments as well as the more intimate Georg Solti Chamber Hall fit even for opera performances are known for their excellent acoustics. Founded by Ferenc Liszt, it is a bastion of music education and musicology, and among the best 100 performing arts universities in the world.
